Product Pick of the Week - Triton Wind Profiler
One of the world's leading renewable energy publications has recognized Massachusetts-based Second Wind Inc. as a finalist in its first-ever Excellence in Renewable Energy Awards. Second Wind, a leading provider of wind information technology, was named a finalist last week by RenewableEnergyWorld.com in the category of Innovation in Renewable Energy for its game-changing Triton Wind Profiler.
“Remote sensing is changing the way the industry measures wind and uses information,” says Second Wind COO Larry Letteney. “The ability to measure wind at all the heights across a typical turbine rotor is giving project stakeholders the ability to make better, faster decisions about everything from wind farm siting to maintenance planning.”
Triton, commercially introduced in 2008, is the wind industry’s market-leading remote sensing system. “We have by far more systems deployed in commercial use in the wind industry than any of our competitors,” says Letteney, citing Triton’s low power requirements, portability, and ruggedness as reasons for Triton’s market leadership. “We appreciate RenewableEnergyWorld.com’s in-depth coverage of the wind industry and we are honored to be recognized by them in this way.”
“Second Wind was chosen as a finalist from hundreds of nominations,” says RenewableEnergyWorld.com’s managing editor, Jennifer Runyon. The award is being inaugurated this year because “we see so many fantastic projects, and this industry is so full of innovation and growth and excitement. We wanted to recognize the best projects, programs and people out there.”
The finalists chosen for the Innovation in Renewable Energy award were deemed to be groundbreaking or innovative, important in size and impact, and newsworthy, said Runyon.
The final awards will be announced on February 23, 2010 at the Renewable Energy World North America Conference and Expo in Austin, TX.
