Today Vestas announces that Southern Power, a leading U.S. wholesale energy provider and subsidiary of Southern Company, has acquired the 118 MW Glass Sands Wind Facility from Steelhead Americas, Vestas’ development arm in North America. The deal marks another step in Vestas’ aim to further expand its presence in renewable project development and to create value across a wider range of the renewable value chain.

Vestas wins 47 MW order in Japan

Vestas has secured a 47 MW order with Shimizu Corporation for the Oritsume Minami 1 Wind Farm in Iwate prefecture, Japan.

Vestas has bolstered its Swedish pipeline with a 67 MW order for the Grönhult project in southwest Sweden from The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG).

Vestas today announces it has signed the first EnVentus order in the Eastern Europe region for the 126 MW DTEK Tiligulska project in Ukraine, building on a track record of 660 MW already installed by Vestas in Ukraine. The Tiligulska project is being developed by DTEK Renewables, for whom Vestas has also delivered three previous projects in Ukraine.

Vestas, the global leader in sustainable energy solutions, has invested in Swedish wood technology company Modvion, in a move towards creating fully sustainable products and solutions, and reducing carbon emissions from our value chain. The investment sees Vestas becoming a minority investor in the bio-composite specialist, and marks the first official investment from newly established corporate venture capital arm, Vestas Ventures.

To strengthen Vestas’ presence and market position in strategic and fast-growing markets in Asia Pacific and drive operational alignment across the value chain, Vestas has appointed Purvin Patel as Regional President of Asia Pacific.

Vestas is the global leader in onshore wind, however to continue to lead the expansion of wind energy into becoming the dominant energy source, it is crucial for Vestas to become a leader in offshore wind.

Vestas has secured an order for the 75 MW Cloncreen project in Ireland from the Irish climate solutions company Bord na Móna. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of 21 V136-3.45 MW wind turbines in 3.6 MW operating mode in combination with a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, maximising power production while at the same time offering competitive levelised cost of energy.

Vestas wins 34 MW order in the Netherlands

Vestas has received an order from Eneco Verda B.V., a subsidiary of Eneco B.V., a leading company in the Dutch and Belgian energy sector for the 34 MW wind project Landtong Rozenburg.

Vestas has invested in Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, (CIP), the world’s largest dedicated fund manager in greenfield renewable energy infrastructure, to acquire a 25 percent minority stake in the investment management company. With the investment, Vestas seeks to create value across a wider range of the renewable value chain.

Leveraging its global experience and extensive project planning capabilities, Vestas will supply and supervise the installation of V150-4.2 MW turbines for the two 50 MW projects Nhon Hoa 1 and 2 Wind Farms in the Gia Lai province of Vietnam.

Finnish developer Ilmatar Energy has placed an order with Vestas for 74 MW for the Voimamylly and Rasakangas wind projects, set to be located in Southwest and Central Finland.

Recently Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Vestas) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) announced an agreement to expand their partnership in sustainable energy. The strengthened partnership entails that Vestas will acquire MHI’s shares in the MHI Vestas Offshore Wind (MVOW) joint venture, and MHI will acquire 2.5 percent in Vestas and be nominated to a seat in Vestas’ Board of Directors.

The Windpark Hopsten GmbH & Co. KG has placed a 25 MW order with Vestas for their citizen wind park Hopsten that will be located in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. The order comes after the two sides signed a partnership agreement in 2017, wherein Vestas supported the building permit application.

Vestas’ long-term customer Polenergia Farma Wiatrowa Debice/Kostomloty Sp.z.o.o. was able to secure a 27 MW wind project from Poland’s technology-neutral energy auction in December 2019 with a customised wind energy solution developed by Vestas.

Vestas has secured a 50 MW order in Vietnam with local developer, Ia Bang Wind Power Joint Stock Company, owned by the Vietnam-based renewable power producer Gia Lai Electricity Joint Stock Company (GEC). This is Vestas’ second project with GEC and it will take its total order intake past 1.1 GW in Vietnam.

Demonstrating its continued focus on innovation and product development, Vestas has upgraded the EnVentus platform’s existing turbine variants to 6.0 MW standard rating.

The global demand for sustainable energy solutions in low and ultra-low wind areas continues to grow as renewable technology improves in efficiency and cost. This trend is especially prominent in India, the world’s fourth largest wind energy market, where the energy demand is expected to double and the government intends to add around 100 GW wind power in the predominantly low-wind market by 2030.

TERNA ENERGY has placed a 144 MW order for the Karystia wind project in the prefecture of Evia, Greece. The contract includes the supply and installation of 40 V105-3.45 MW wind turbines delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode, as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

Vestas has entered the Colombian wind power market with a 20 MW order for the Guajira I wind park, located at the municipality of Uribia, in La Guajira, Colombia. The contract includes the supply and installation of ten V100-2.0 MW turbines, as well as an Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement for the operation and maintenance of the wind park over the next 12 years.

Vestas has received a 409 MW order from the joint venture between Votorantim Energia and the Canadian fund CPP Investments for the projects Ventos do Piauí II and Ventos do Piauí III, in Serra do Inácio, in the state of Piauí, in Brazil.

Vestas has signed an 86 MW contract with Nexif Energy for the second stage of the Lincoln Gap Wind Farm in South Australia. The EPC agreement will include the engineering, procurement and construction of 24 of Vestas’ V136-3.45 MW turbines delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode. This will add to the customer’s existing fleet of 126 MW of Senvion turbines which are being serviced by Vestas.

Vestas has received a 150 MW order in China that includes the supply of 53 V120-2.2 MW in 2.4 MW Power Optimised Mode and seven V155-3.3 MW turbines as well as a 5-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.

Vestas leads the market for wind energy in Vietnam with over 1 GW of projects installed or under construction, after securing an additional 50 MW order for the second phase of Hoa Binh 1 wind farm.

Vestas has secured an agreement with Vena Energy to service its 54 MW Gamesa turbines at Pililla Wind Project in Philippines. The agreement is Vestas’ first full scope multi-brand service deal in the country, leveraging our extensive experience from servicing 3.6 GW Gamesa turbines globally, including Taiwan in the Asia Pacific region.

Vestas has secured a 50 MW order with local EPC construction company, Bac Phuong JSC for the second phase of the Dong Hai 1 intertidal wind project.

Vestas has developed a customised wind energy solution that has enabled our long-term customer Polenergia Farma Wiatrowa 3 Sp. z o.o.to secure a 121 MW wind project in Poland from a competitive auction round. Together with Vestas’ previously announced orders from Poland’s technology-neutral energy auctions, this auction win showcases onshore wind energy’s competitiveness and underlines Vestas’ market leadership in the country.

Vestas has secured a 101 MW order with AMI AC Renewables Corporation, a joint venture between AC Energy and AMI Renewables, for the second phase of the B&T Wind Farm.

Vestas has received a 28 MW repowering order from ecoJoule construct GmbH for the wind project Brest, located in Lower-Saxony in northern Germany, won in the tender for the Federal Network Agency. Five V150-5.6 MW turbines from the EnVentus platform, with concrete hybrid towers with a hub height of 166m, will replace the currently installed turbines to maximise the annual energy production.
