Wind Industry Profile of
Deutsche Windtechnik to begin providing maintenance for Enercon wind turbines in France: Full maintenance contracts including large components have been signed for four wind farms
The agreements with the companies belonging to the Swiss energy supplier IWB group as well as a French energy supplier, which were signed at the beginning of this year, cover full maintenance for a total of 22 Enercon E70 turbines including large components. The 16 turbines operated by IWB are located at the three wind farms Maisnieres, Méautis-Auvers and Saucourt. The remaining six turbines belong also to a wind farm in northern France. Deutsche Windtechnik already provides manufacturer-independent full service for different Enercon turbine technologies in Germany, Poland, Sweden and Belgium, and it has now added France to that list. With the new contracts, a total of 824 Enercon systems are currently being managed in these countries – mostly under full maintenance criteria.
The new contracts have a term of five years with the option of extension. Clea Hamm, Managing Director of IWB Energie France, said: "IWB is pursuing a long-term strategy. We want to operate our wind turbines as long and sustainably as possible. That is why preventive maintenance is very important to us. The service contracts with Deutsche Windtechnik are designed for a maximum service life of 30 years. We are glad to have found this experienced service partner and are looking forward to further collaboration with the company."
Full maintenance with a view towards prevention
Sofiane Lesbet, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik's French unit said: "We are very happy that we can now offer our Enercon service competencies in France as well. We began taking care of important issues affecting some of the turbines during special deployments at the end of last year. Preventive maintenance has been important to us from the very beginning: We do not just take action when a part is broken and the system has to be taken offline. Instead, we check the condition of crucial components during every maintenance deployment and monitor their condition around the clock as part of system monitoring. This allows us to evaluate which service life-extending measures are important to ensure operation in the medium term but also, if strategic planning calls for it, in the long term."
