New software gives a full overview of wind turbine data
Good data is critical for running a healthy business based on wind energy. But until now, it’s been a real challenge to monitor the operations of wind farms that use more than one model of wind turbines, especially if they’re made by different manufacturers.
SCADA International has now surmounted this challenge in its newest release of OneView® SCADA. Wind farm owners are no longer at the mercy of the different ways that individual manufacturers make turbine data available. With OneView® SCADA, owners now have control over their own data.
"With this new product, we’re addressing a longstanding need in the market,” says Thomas Bagger, CEO of SCADA International. “Now you can access all your data in a single model that harmonizes and summarizes data from every turbine, regardless of model. We developed the new software based on comprehensive research into the needs of our clients. In OneView® SCADA, we’ve striven for the ultimate solution, developed by asset managers for asset managers.”
In an industry focused on LCOE, having the best possible control and reporting processes is crucial. That is why OneView® SCADA can be a game changer, as it provides data in a form that facilitates the operational optimization of large wind farms.
Bridging data gaps
Precise calculations of uptime and downtime, lost production, and availability – these are just a few of the parameters that OneView® SCADA now reports automatically. And the program generates overall figures for all the turbines in a given facility, providing an optimal overview of wind farm performance.
“It’s unprecedented for all turbine data to be taken into consideration,” explains Bo Lovmand, R&D Director at SCADA International. “For years, asset managers have had to correct errors on their own, but this program automatically adjusts data on the basis of other operational data. That eliminates most of the discrepancies that turbine owners have had to live with or rectify manually.”
In addition, OneView® SCADA employs a state-of-the-art reporting module that enables the turbine owner to create advanced calculation models to address their particular needs, using simple drag-and-drop formulas.
“We’ve expended a great deal of effort on the user experience and individual options,” Lovmand adds. “For instance, you can customize the calculations without having to invest in costly software programming. We’ve made it a priority to make reporting as good as it can be, to provide wind farm owners with better options when it comes to optimizing their operations.”
