Foundations laid at Sarco and Aurora wind farms in Chile
Significant progress has also been made to date on the Sarco project in terms of developing internal roads and external access routes. Some infrastructure has also been put in place for preliminary works, including zone demarcation, the installation of the office buildings, the canteen and internet services, to name a few. Work is now underway for the EHV line, which currently consists of various topographical works and the development of access routes. The concrete for the foundations is expected to arrive in the coming days.
Sarco wind farm project is located in Freirina commune, approximately 70 km southeast of Vallenar city, Atacama region in Northern Chile. The wind farm will have 50 wind turbines that will add an installed capacity of 170 MW, equivalent to the power consumption of about 260 thousand homes.
Aurora wind farm project is located in Llanquihue, 15 km from the Llanquihue municipality in the Los Lagos Region, in Southern Chile. The wind farm will have 43 wind turbines that will add an installed capacity of 129 MW, equivalent to the power consumption of about 195 thousand homes.
Both wind farms are expected to start operation by December 2018.
