AWEA Newsticker - American wind energy experts at Cancun Climate Talks
The CEO of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and a contingent of wind industry experts from AWEA are taking part in this year's United Nations Climate Change Conference in Cancun, Mexico, taking place November 29-December 10, 2010. AWEA joins representatives of almost 200 nations as the world comes together to fight climate change. AWEA's industry experts will not only be taking part in several discussions during the conference, but also blogging on news of the day at http://climate.nationaljournal.com/contributors/peter-l-kelley.php.
At the event, AWEA CEO Denise Bode, Chief Economist Liz Salerno and Vice President for Public Affairs Peter Kelley will join wind industry leaders in discussing wind power potential, technology developments and project financing. "By helping reduce pollution and water use, wind power is a key element in helping fight the effects of climate change, and so we're excited to be getting a front-row seat at this conference," said Bode. "Wind generation is a market-driven technology solution to addressing carbon emissions. We hope this event will encourage Congress to not only pass a national renewable electricity standard, but also extend the tax incentives that keep us on a level playing field with the fossil fuels industries. These provisions will provide the commitment to renewables needed for the wind industry to continue to create new manufacturing and construction jobs, while also revitalizing rural communities in America's heartland."
