“This is a one-in-a-generation opportunity for California to become a global hub for floating offshore wind technology, creating thousands of good-paying American maritime and manufacturing jobs in California and beyond while boosting the domestic offshore wind supply chain,” said Heather Zichal, ACP’s CEO.
The American Clean Power Association (ACP) applauded the BOEM for holding a lease sale in the Carolina Long Bay wind energy area.
The wind energy lease sale will create tens of thousands of high-skilled U.S. jobs, strengthen coastal economies, and deliver vast amounts of reliable, clean energy to America’s largest population centers, says ACP.
The Humboldt WEA, if developed, could bring up to 1.6 GW of clean energy to the grid, enough to power approximately 560,000 homes.
The Department of the Interior has announced the next steps for and welcomed public comment on offshore wind lease sales in two regions on the Outer Continental Shelf offshore California last week.
