WindEnergy 2004: “Wind Power - Technology Transfer Center”

Two-day cooperation exchange for technology transfer

WindEnergy - International Trade Fair
At the Hamburg fair site from 11 to 14 May 2004

The WindEnergy 2004 – International Trade Fair, to be held in Hamburg from 11 to 14 May, offers a special service for internationally operating companies and academic organisations of the wind energy industry. It has established a new international cooperation exchange, known as the “Wind Power - Technology Transfer Center” (TTC), to promote cooperation between internationally operating companies and to bring together research projects in the wind energy industry. The purpose of the TTC is to provide organised know-how transfer to get the latest technologies for using wind energy into companies as rapidly as possible, and thus to establish them in the market. The WindEnergy International Trade Fair in May 2004 is the second event in the series, bringing together the key players from the whole of Europe and the rest of the world, to present their new products and services, to make contacts, and to exchange ideas.

The TTC works on a bilateral basis, and is to continue beyond the fair itself for establishment of an international network. The organiser of the TTC is IRC (Innovation Relay Centre) Northern Germany (coordinated by VDI/VDE-Technologiezentrum Informationstechnik GmbH, Berlin), an organisation supporting the research and technology policy of the European Union. The mandate of the IRC is to provide services for improvement of international technology transfer. The thematic focus in 2004 will be on “enabling technologies”.

International companies and institutions in the wind energy sector can register right away for this two-day exchange of experience at WindEnergy 2004. They can enter technology profiles and searches for projects and business partners in a database at the internet address www.active-support.de/wind2004/index.php. The IRC will check the entries and identify appropriate partners. Potential business partners will then be brought together for meetings on 12 and 13 May at WindEnergy 2004. The charge for participation in the Cooperation Exchange, including the two-day get-together at WindEnergy 2004, is €140 for exhibitors and €280 for non-exhibitors (for the first delegate from each organisation). Further delegates may be registered at an additional charge of €90 each.

“Wind energy technology is opening up new markets throughout the world”, explains Heiko Heiden, Project Manager of the WindEnergy 2004 – International Trade Fair, “and is often dependent on finding competent partners in the target markets. Our purpose in creating the TTC is to provide an international network which is designed for technology transfer, and provides added value on both sides”.

“To achieve successful technology transfer, both sides have to benefit from the cooperation, and they have to complement one another”, adds Jens Kirsten (Dipl.-Ingenieur) of the VDI/VDE Technologiezentrum Informationstechnik GmbH, which will be organising the contacts between companies at WindEnergy 2004. “The WindEnergy, as the major international fair event, is the ideal platform for fulfilment of our mission.”

WindEnergy 2004 will be held from Tuesday 11 May to Friday 14 May. Opening times are 9am to 6pm, with extended opening on Thursday to 8pm. It is an international platform for wind energy generating system manufacturers and component suppliers, planners, financing organisations, measurement and certification bodies and research and development experts, to promote further expansion of this market of the future. The official international partners of WindEnergy 2004 are EWEA, AWEA and InWEA, with support at national level from the VDMA (German Engineering Federation) and DEWI (German Wind Energy Institute).
