HUSUM | 20 November 2024. Denmark has been announced as the official partner country for next year’s HUSUM WIND. From 16-19 September 2025, numerous leading Danish companies from sectors including turbine production, offshore development, energy storage, and service provision will showcase their innovative technologies and products. “As the partner country, Denmark will be represented at HUSUM WIND by companies and products across the entire wind energy value chain. This provides our attendees with unparalleled access to one of Europe’s most dynamic wind markets,” explains Meike Kern, Managing Director of Messe Husum & Congress (MHC). In collaboration with Scandinavian partners, Messe Husum is organising a German-Danish Energy Dialogue, featuring an opening panel, discussions, forums, and excursions throughout the exhibition week. Pascal Hofer, Project Manager for HUSUM WIND, states: “The German-Danish Energy Dialogue aims to serve as a central platform for discussing challenges and opportunities related to the energy transition, green hydrogen, and the digitalisation of the wind industry. This will include new excursions to showcase flagship projects in the region.”

Cross-border economic area for the wind industry

The long-standing connection between Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein is founded on well-established economic ties, the “Energy Coast” as a driver of the energy transition, and joint infrastructure projects such as the German-Danish hydrogen pipeline. Denmark has been one of the top three international exhibitors at HUSUM WIND for many years, with numerous trade visitors from the north also regularly attending. Even members of the Danish royal family have visited the exhibition.

Thomas Østrup Møller, Danish Ambassador to Germany, has confirmed his attendance at the event and highlights the significance of the partnership with Messe Husum: “Here in the German-Danish border region, the wind energy industry has been gathering for over 30 years. Danish innovations have shaped the industry from the very beginning and have contributed to making the global energy supply a bit more climate-friendly. Our partnership with Husum Wind underlines not only our shared journey so far, but also our ambition to jointly develop sustainable and efficient energy solutions for the future.” Andreas Wenzel, Managing Director of the German-Danish Chamber of Commerce, adds: “We are delighted that the German-Danish Chamber of Commerce is a partner of Husum Wind 2025. The industry fair offers an important platform for German and Danish companies from the energy sector to further promote economic exchange and realise joint market potential.”

Denmark is a key location for the wind industry in Europe. As the exhibition’s partner country, Denmark has set ambitious targets to expand its offshore wind capacity to 10 GW by 2030 and to continuously increase the share of renewable energy in its power sector. Denmark is also a pioneer in developing energy islands, with plans to create the first such project in the North Sea. In addition to large-scale offshore projects, the country is focusing on the expansion and integration of energy storage solutions and green hydrogen to achieve a climate-neutral energy supply.

In September next year, more than 600 exhibitors will showcase their latest technologies, trends, and product innovations at HUSUM WIND – ranging from turbine production and installation to maintenance, energy storage, and green hydrogen production. The exhibition, held under the theme “Leading through innovation,” is expected to attract more than 12,000 industry professionals to Husum, Schleswig-Holstein.
