SCADA International launches new solution to optimize the operation of hybrid energy parks

With its new OneView® Hybrid Control Unit, SCADA International now offers a central control and regulation solution for hybrid energy parks – parks that consist of different types of energy installations, such as wind turbines, solar panels, and battery storage.

More and more countries are committed to becoming independent of fossil energy by 2050. The market for renewable energy is growing rapidly in Europe, Australia, and North and South America – and it’s embracing increasingly complex set-ups in hybrid energy parks, which utilize diverse energy sources, including different brands of wind turbines and solar panels, as well as battery storage facilities.

The trend in coming years points toward increasing complexity, which brings new challenges in monitoring and overall management. Fortunately, SCADA International is now launching a software solution designed to optimize the operation of hybrid parks: the OneView® Hybrid Control Unit.

“We’re seeing a growing number of hybrid energy parks, because they’re able to ensure optimal power generation while delivering electricity more stably and consistently,” says Thomas Bagger, CEO of SCADA International. “To maximize the management and profitability of these parks, however, it is critical to have a flexible control system that can process data for the control, operational monitoring and optimization of the various installations – and especially, a system that will provide an easy-to-understand overview of this data in a uniform interface. That’s exactly what we address with this new software solution.”

The OneView® SCADA solution collects data and presents precise calculations of such parameters as up- and downtime, production loss, and availability across different energy sources. The system is flexible and can be scaled and customized as needed.

Demand for flexibility

With its existing OneView® SCADA solution, SCADA International was already a leader in software for operational optimization of multi-brand wind parks. Now the company is making it possible for hybrid energy parks to obtain comparable advantages in maximizing efficiency.

Christian Daather, Director of Global Sales Development for SCADA International, adds: “When we talk about hybrid parks with combined sources of renewable energy, electrical distribution, load management, and battery storage, there’s strong demand in the market for a central control and regulation solution that is flexible enough to accommodate current project-specific requirements. We’ve responded to this demand by launching the new OneView®; Hybrid Control Unit software to supplement our OneView® Energy Control Unit, which is already being used by energy parks around the world.”

SCADA International has installed more than 1000 SCADA systems for renewable energy companies worldwide.
