Agile Wind Power sets up production site in Lemwerder

Moving the rotor blade mold to Germany

Agile Wind Power develops the innovative vertical-axis large wind turbine Vertical Sky® for distributed energy markets. The production site of the company will now be set up in Lemwerder near Bremen. Previously, a hall in the vicinity of the Dübendorf airfield was used as research and development site and lately for the construction of a 27-meter rotor blade mold for our new wind turbine technology. This rotor blade mold is currently being shipped to Germany and will be used for the manufacturing of rotor arms and blades once the relocation has been concluded. The first marketable turbine is currently erected on the wind test field Grevenbroich near Düsseldorf and will be certified according to international norms.

For the production of the large-scale rotor blades Agile Wind Power will use the halls at the former airport Lemwerder. Here, also the mass production of Vertical Sky® will be started. The advantages of this region with its numerous wind energy companies are both the availability of qualified staff as well as attractive industrial sites with direct access to international harbors.

The new production site also enables our German team of rotor blade engineers to return home. For the construction of the rotor blade mold Agile Wind Power had engaged five employees of a former rotor blade factory to work in Switzerland. This team will now be responsible for preparing the construction of the Vertical Sky® rotor.

Engineering stays in Switzerland

The basis of the Vertical Sky® technology is the continuous rotor blade pitch control. The research and development team of Agile Wind Power will stay in Dübendorf to work in the company’s research lab with pilot plant.
