Tahkoluoto turbine installation completed
“The installation team did a fantastic safe and efficient job! We installed all ten 4.2 MW turbines within the contractual time frame” says Peter De Pooter, Manager Offshore Renewables at Jan De Nul Group. The first phase of the construction of the wind farm was completed already in 2016. The second phase started in April 2017 and was, thus, successfully completed. The Vole au vent will soon demobilize and start preparations for her next project in Blyth (UK).
Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm in Finland
In 2016, wind power producer Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy chose Jan De Nul NV, member of Jan De Nul Group, as the main contractor of marine construction for the new offshore wind farm in Tahkoluoto, Finland.
The construction of the wind farm started in April 2016 with seabed preparations for the foundation and cable installation. The works resumed in April 2017. The Vole au vent successfully completed the installation of the 10 gravity based foundations early June.
The Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm was constructed by five international suppliers: Siemens, Technip, ABB, Prysmian, and Jan De Nul NV. The world’s first offshore wind farm designed for icy conditions has ten 4.2 MW turbines and will be ready for commercial operation in September 2017.
