AREVA Signs Accord to Supply Wind Turbines for Offshore Wind Energy Project
The wind turbines are meant for Borkum West II offshore wind farm project located in the North Sea around 45 km away from the northern coastline of Borkum.
The accord requires AREVA to supply wind turbines, commission them after the installation, test their performance and provide regular maintenance services. Other aspects of the wind turbine installation such as transporting the wind turbines to the installation site, building of foundation and erection of wind turbines are not included in the scope of the contract.
The company has signed to supply another forty wind turbines for the offshore wind project. The installation of this offshore wind project is anticipated to be completed and commissioned to start its operations in the beginning of the year 2012/2013.The offshore wind farm is designed to generate around 200 MW, which can be conveniently utilized to power over 200,000 homes.
Anil Srivastava, CEO of the company, said that AREVA is excited to develop the offshore wind project along with Trianel. He added that he has received assurances from 11 banks to fund the project and his company is looking forward to deploy its high-tech wind turbines in the project for long-term power production.
