Germany - RWE and REPower in talks for 1,900 MW turbine deal
RWE's renewable energy unit, Innogy, and wind turbine maker REpower RPWGn.DE signed a memorandum of understanding for a 1,900 megawatt (MW) turbine deal, REPower said.
REpower - controlled by India's Suzlon, the world's fourth-largest wind turbine maker - would deliver some 250 offshore and about 200 onshore wind turbines to RWE's unit, it said in a statement.
Negotiations should be concluded within the next three months, or by the end of the year at the latest, it said. The wind turbines should then be manufactured and delivered by REpower within 4 to 6 years, starting Jan. 1, 2010, it said.
