Germany - 160 metres hub height provides considerably more wind-produced electricity

FL 2500 prototype exceeds 6 million kilowatt hours

FL 2500 Prototype FL 2500 Prototype
With its installed capacity of 2.5 megawatts Fuhrländer’s FL 2500 prototype generated a sound 6 million kilowatt hours of clean wind-produced electricity at the 160 metre high framework tower during the first year of operation - in spite of extensive measurements and numerous tests during the first few months. This amount of energy is commensurate with the annual consumption of 1500 households in Germany.

As up to 1 million kilowatt hours were achieved in peak months, even greater annual returns are to be expected during the current operation period. The worldwide observation of the multi-megawatt system with its innovative concept appeals greatly to planners, customers, insurers and bankers. This is because there are a great deal of ground-breaking ideas from the W2E developers in the FL 2500. Many European patents have been registered. The A-design assessment by Germanic Lloyd’s was already completed in December 2006.
