Offshore wind industry disappointed by Norwegian Government

Norway announces first offshore wind auction
Last week the Norwegian Government announced that they will hold the country’s first offshore wind auction in the second half of 2022. The auction will have a total capacity of 1.5 GW. Further offshore wind auctions will follow. Despite the announcement, the Norwegian wind industry is not completely content.
Norway is blessed with ideal conditions for energy generation. The country is already producing large amounts of renewable electricity, mostly from hydro power but also onshore wind. Currently Norway has more than 4 GW of onshore wind. Norway’s large coastline and its exposure to strong Nordic winds make it an ideal country for offshore wind generation.
