Protecting bolted connections

If bolts are turned further during maintenance, this impacts on the bolted connection. We have therefore developed an innovative battery-powered torque wrench MAD and electric torque wrench MED with an integrated, highly sensitive test program. Unlike conventional devices, these torque wrenches measure the

torque on the bolt as tension builds, without actually tightening the bolt further. The result: the bolted connection is not manipulated during maintenance.

Innovation for precise torque

Torsion and friction in the gearbox of a torque wrench determine the torque during assembly. In order to avoid these impacts, our partner RAD Torque Systems has developed an internationally unique socket with integrated torque sensor, the SMART SOCKET. It measures the torque transferred to the bolt directly at the bolted connection. For optimal torque accuracy the torque wrenches of the series E-RAD BLU are especially suitable.

Advantages of battery-powered and electric torque wrenches

Battery-powered and electric torque wrenches are particularly suitable for working on wind turbines. They are simple and speed up assembly by continuously applying torque. Compared with other torque systems such as hydraulic wrenches, the assembly time, and therefore crane time, is reduced by up to 60 percent.
