News of the Day
Renewable energy has become a worldwide trend in energy generation, especially since costs continue to fall. In recent auctions, more and more wind projects became subsidy-free.
The article "The Era of ‘Negative-Subsidy’ Offshore Wind Power has Almost Arrived" by Iegor Riepin, Malte Jansen, Iain Staffel, and Felix Müsgens, published on the Carbon Brief website, discusses the findings of a recent study, in which the authors participated: The offshore wind farms auctioned last September in the UK will most likely be the world’s first “negative subsidy” projects – wind farms that will pay money back to the government over their lifetime.
