Largest Chinese association for renewables, CREIA New cooperation partner for WindEnergy

WindEnergy – International Trade Fair at Hamburg Fair site from 16 to 19 May 2006

WE6, 3 November 2005

The Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA) is the new cooperation partner of WindEnergy 2006 – International Trade Fair. CREIA is China’s largest renewable energies association, with more than 100 member companies, and will from now on give its support and backing to WindEnergy as the exclusive trade fair in Europe. This partnership enables WindEnergy, the leading international fair for the whole of the wind energy sector worldwide, to develop one of the largest growth markets in the energy sector. China's electricity demand is practically exploding. The Government in Beijing set the course for renewables with entry into force of the Renewable Energies Act on 1 January 2006, aiming to derive 10% of the country's power from renewable energy sources by 2010. The intention is to install wind turbines with a total output of 4000 MW by then, rising to about 20,000 MW by 2020. By comparison, China reported 764 MW at year end 2004.

“This cooperation once more underlines WindEnergy’s international position as the leading trade fair for the whole of this growing industry, as a platform for international exchange,” says Peter Bergleiter, Project Manager WindEnergy at Hamburg Messe. “We look forward to increased participation of the Chinese wind industry at WindEnergy 2006.” Alongside this new partnership with the CREIA, WindEnergy also has further international cooperation – it has an exclusive partnership with the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), representing 220 members from 40 countries. In addition, WindEnergy is working with the VDMA, with the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the Indian Wind Energy Association (InWEA) and the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) – the new partner since summer this year. These partnerships enable WindEnergy to expand its international presence still further, covering the major export markets.

WindEnergy 2006 – International Trade Fair, to be held in Hamburg from 16 to 19 May 2006, is the third event in the series, and will once again be the meeting point for the wind industry worldwide. It brings together turbine manufacturers and equipment suppliers, project developers, finance institutes, measurement and certification bodies, and experts from research and development, as an international platform for further expansion of this market of the future.
