Ørsted has applied for permission to build four more offshore wind farms in Sweden, which would bring the company's portfolio in the country to 18 GW. If fully developed, the new offshore wind farms will produce enough fossil-free electricity to meet more than half of Sweden's total electricity consumption.
Cushaling Wind Farm was granted planning permission in 2020 and is expected to be operational in late 2024. Statkraft will also operate ithe wind farm when completed.
Following a very competitive international tender process, Vestas has been awarded the 21 turbine contract for Derrinlough Wind Farm.
“Implementing this must become this Government’s top priority if it is serious about tackling the climate emergency and making Ireland energy independent," said Noel Cunniffe, CEO of Wind Energy Ireland.
