Exhibition Ticker - Wind Energy in Turkey - The 3rd annual WIND POWER TURKEY 2011

20 – 21 September 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey

Dear Members,

Associates and Friends

May I invite you to join us and participate in the TWEA’s third annual WIND POWER TURKEY 2011 Congress and Exhibition, which will take place from 20 – 21 September 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey.

According to Christian Kjaer, Chief Executive Officer, EWEA, “Turkey could be among the top three producers of wind energy” and “has a predictable and attractive market for wind energy investors”. Wind Power Turkey 2011, the premier Turkish wind energy event and the third annual congress of the Turkish Wind Energy Association, produced with the government support of the Turkish Prime Ministry, EMRA, EUAS, TEIAS, EIE & TETAS, has become the official meeting place for Turkish and international wind industry leaders, who recognise the potential growth and opportunity for the wind power industry in Turkey.

Turkey needs to grow installed capacity by 1.6GW a year to reach a national target of 20GW of installed capacity by 2023. Last year saw 471MW of new capacity installed, bringing the total to 1.28GW. EMRA has started processing applications for 78GW of wind power projects submitted in November 2007. In February 2011, EMRA said selection would be based on available grid capacity, with more than 7GW up for grabs. In September 2010, it announced production licences for 63 projects, with a total capacity of 1.4GW, that did not compete for grid access and had a positive technical assessment. The first license was issued in December 2010 to a 25MW facility by Tektug Elektrik Uretim.

With the passing of the amendments to the Renewable Energy Law in December 2010,key developments in wind licensing and grid access tenders and the government’spush for local manufacturing, President of EMRA, Hasan KOKTAS, believes 2011 will bethe year of ‘mobilization’ for the private sector’s wind energy investments.

Wind Power Turkey is the leading wind industry networking congress and exhibitionwhere, each year, key Turkish and international wind industry leaders convene to meetnew customers, suppliers and partners and help drive innovation and business in theregion. This is an essential event for anyone looking to succeed in the future windpower market in Turkey.

There is no better place to hear about the latest industry developments and policytrends than Wind Power Turkey 2011.

I look forward to meeting you all from the 20 – 21st September 2011 at WIND POWER TURKEY in Istanbul.

Mustafa Serdar ATASEVEN
President
