LZFRP starts production of the worlds largest blade

Lianyungang, 20th December 2010 Lianyungang Zhongfu Lianzhong Composites Group (“LZFRP”), Asia’s leading manufacturer of rotor blades and SINOI’s sole shareholder, was able to list another milestone in the history of the company on December 20th 2010. On this day the production of the world’s largest rotor blade with a length of 62 m and a nominal power of 5 MW was started in Lianyungang.

LZFRP developed this 5 MW class 1 rotor blade as the important partner of China`s largest wind turbine manufacturer Sinovel Wind Group Co., Ltd. (“Sinovel“). Sinovel’s SL5000 will be China`s largest and most powerful, domestically produced wind energy system. Besides to the insert on the Sinovel-Turbine, the 62 m rotor blade can also be used on further onshore-, offshoreand seashore wind turbines under environments such as salt, fog, sandstorm, low temperature. Further class 2 and 3 rotor blades of the 5 MW family are under design.

“The wind energy in China is currently in a growing stage – the wind turbines become larger and the blades get longer. For this reason especially it is important to be prepared for further industrial upgrades and innovations” says Mr. Dingjin Zhang, President of China Composites Group Co. (“CCGC”, the main shareholder of LZFRP).

The 1.5 MW bamboo rotor blade is a further new development of LZFRP. With a length of 40.3 m it is also unique all over the world. The rotor blade is produced with the, for the rotor blade newly discovered, resource bamboo as a main-load bearing component to reduce weight. “The development of such kind of rotor blades conforms to the demand of the low carbon economy. The bamboo blade also shows the innovative ability of LZFRP and is an action that shows the attention to the environment as well as the social responsibility of the CNBM Group”says Mr. Dingjin Zhang.
