REpower is supplying Japan with another eight wind turbines

The Japanese operations of REpower Systems AG are going from strength to strength

Hamburg, 7 May 2004. The Japanese operations of REpower Systems AG (TecDAX, WKN 617703), a leading supplier of wind turbines in the multimegawatt class in particular, are going from strength to strength. Six REpower MD 77 turbines for a wind farm in Mushigamine on the West Coast of Japan will be shipped from Hamburg next week. In addition, REpower's Japanese sales partner, Meidensha, has ordered another two MD 77 machines for delivery to Japan in the coming months.

REpower is also expecting an additional order for nine MD 77 wind turbines for another wind farm in Japan. REpower has already been selected as the preferred supplier of the turbines due to the outstanding technology offered by the company.

Dr. Takaaki Kai, General Manager, Wind Power Business Development Division at MEIDEN, emphasizes the significance of the outstanding advanced technology and the high reliability as one of REpower's competitive advantages: "Up to now we have been building very positive results with the REpower wind turbines here in Japan. The turbines are extremely solid and reliable, and with the building of good track records across Japan, it is driving a wider acceptance of REpower turbines in Japan where the customer demands top level quality."

Thomas Franck, REpower's Chief Sales Officer, attributes much of the company's success on the rapidly growing Japanese market to the excellent collaboration with the company's sales partner, Meidensha: "Alongside the obvious professional efforts on the part of our renowned Japanese partner, it is the mutually high quality requirement of our two companies that stands us in the best stead as regards the collaboration itself and our positioning on the Japanese market."

As sales partner of REpower, MEIDEN has an exclusive contract to distribute the company's products in Japan. Parallel to the continuous development of the market, MEIDEN provides maintenance and service for REpower turbines in Japan in close cooperation with REpower in Germany.
