SCADA International delivers complex control algorithms to EDPR's first hybrid project in Poland

By implementing SCADA International's OneView® Hybrid Control Unit at Konary in Greater Poland, EDPR can fully utilize the existing green infrastructure and connect multiple renewable energy sources at one shared grid point. Hybridization is on the rise, but unlocking its full potential is complex, says Thomas Bagger, CEO at SCADA International.

SCADA International has joined EDPR's first renewable hybrid power project in Poland, contributing to the global energy leader's commitment to accelerating the energy transition worldwide. The software and hardware supplier will deliver their OneView® Hybrid Control Unit (HCU) as a master power plant controller connecting a complex setup of several existing SCADA systems, three different substations, three wind farms, and one solar PV plant, with a second currently under construction.

At SCADA International, they are proud to be partnering with EDPR for such an innovative and interesting project:

"We are thrilled to be on board for this exciting project with EDPR. Our SCADA and control solutions have long had a strong presence in the Polish market. In Poland alone, more than 2GW of renewable energy is being controlled and monitored by one of our systems, covering solar PV, wind, and hydro generation, so we are very familiar with the market and grid requirements," says Thomas Bagger, CEO at SCADA International, and continues:

"Deploying our OneView® HCU with EDPR for Konary in Poland is cementing our market position as a trusted provider of advanced master power plant controllers. Hybridization is on the rise, but unlocking its full potential is rather complex – we aim to be a valuable helping hand in that regard."

To comply with the Polish TSO and EDPR requirements, SCADA International has developed seven control functionalities and tailormade algorithms, including direct voltage control and control of capacitor banks. The control algorithms have been designed not only to comply with the local regulations but also to optimize the power production of the different assets according to specific criteria provided by EDPR.
