EMS Maritime Offshore GmbH puts the servicebase in Port Mukran into operation – Base port for tenants Parkwind and Vestas
In the presence of Christian Pegel, Minister for Energy, Infrastructure and Digitization in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the lease agreement for the settlement was signed by the partners Mukran Port, EMO, Vestas and Parkwind in 2021. Today, the contracted construction company Mohrmann was able to ceremoniously hand over a symbolic key for moving into the service building. "We are pleased about the trust placed in us and that we can now put the new base into operation," explains Marcel Diekmann, Managing Director of Ems Maritime Offshore GmbH.
The lease agreement follows the conclusion of the financing agreements for the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm, which is being built in the Baltic Sea, north-east of the island of Rügen. The project is in the construction phase and should be fully operational in 2023. Arcadis Ost 1 will generate renewable electricity for the needs of up to 290,000 homes.
Eric Antoons, Co-CEO of Parkwind explained: „With todays opening of our new service-hub Parkwind has reached an important milestone for our first german offshore windfarm. It underlines our long term commitment to the German market. With this modern and sustainable building direct at the quayside of the harbour, we are creating an attractive work environment for our colleagues.“ Francois Van Leeuw, Co-CEO of Parkwind adds: „Mukran is the best location to operate our current as well as potential future offshore windfarms in the Baltic Sea region. With the port's growing infrastructure and Germany's ambitions in offshore wind, we are ideally situated to further participate.“
Mayor Leon Kräusche emphasized: "For me, the development of Mukran Port is an affair of the heart." With the commissioning of the new service building for the supply of the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm, Mukran Port is able to welcome three specialists from the wind industry. Krausche wished Parkwind, Vestas and EMO: "Good luck and lots and lots of wind."
About Arcadis Ost 1:
Arcadis Ost 1 is a 257 MW offshore wind farm being developed in Germany's territorial waters of the Baltic Sea, northeast of the island of Rügen. Arcadis Ost 1 was developed by Parkwind with the participation of PMV and OstseeWindEnergie GmbH, a project company of the three partners Oberhessische Versorgungsbetriebe AG, Stadtwerke Bad Vilbel and WV Energie AG. The wind farm is expected to be operational in 2023 and provide enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of 290,000 homes.
