wpd receives concessions for the development of onshore projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina

wpd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, an official declaration of intent between the company and the political leadership of Canton 10 to advance the development of renewable energy projects. With this declaration, wpd also signed two concession contracts and thus gained legal certainty for the development of the Cadilj and Marino Brdo projects with a total capacity of 264 MW.

The MoU was signed in Livno, western Bosnia and Herzegovina, by Ivan Vukadin, Prime Minister of Canton 10, and Dijana Puzigaca, Minister of Economy of Canton 10. For wpd, Andreas Chollet signed the declaration as Head of international Project Development, while Zoran Obradovic as Managing Director of wpd Adria and Project Manager Ivan Šutalo presented the projects to the public.

Obtaining concessions is a prerequisite in Bosnia and Herzegovina for all permits required for the realization of a project. In addition, access to state owned land in the project area is linked to the possession of a concession.

Both government representatives underlined their support for renewable energy projects and highlighted the excellent cooperation with wpd in project planning and concession contract negotiations.

“Thanks to the good cooperation between politics, administration and the team at wpd Adria, we have been able to overcome many challenges,” said Andreas Chollet. “We were able to build on the support here from the canton, but also from the municipalities of Glamoc and Bosansko Grahovo, and on this basis we are striving for further concessions for projects with more than 1,000 MW of installed capacity.”

wpd Adria has been active for more than two decades and has so far realized four wind farms in Croatia with a total installed capacity of 92 MW. The company has expanded its activities in the Balkans and built a project pipeline of more than 1,500 MW in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia. Thanks to outstanding expertise, wpd continues to expand its position as an experienced and reliable partner for project developments throughout the region.
