MySE 12MW typhoon-resistant hybrid drive offshore wind turbine rolled off the production line

Mingyang Smart Energy celebrated the rollout of the MySE 12MW hybrid drive offshore wind turbine at its manufacturing base in Shanwei,Guangdong.

Safety and reliability at core

MySE 12MW is an upgrade of the 11MW platform that integrates a variety of innovative technologies for efficient and reliable performance. First, lubrication system is optimized and co-shared by the gearbox and generator. Second, dual-drive pitch control technology is suitable all kinds of extreme operation conditions.Third, multi-sensor wind measuring system enables intelligent and precise yaw control, lowering unit load and improving power output. Forth, multi-source data system supports faster system failure forecast. MySE 12MW is certified by the China General Certification Center (CGC).

Stronger in extreme winds

MySE 12MW is designed to withstand super typhoons of 78.82 m/s and is applicable forover 98% of China's sea areas, including Fujian and Guangdong provinces, as well as overseas markets such as Europe. The use of single-blade lifting technology and processing raises the operating wind speed limit from less than 10m/s to 15m/s, improving construction efficiency by more than 30%.

More generation, more values

Underrated wind speed, MySE 12MW can generate 25 kWh of electricity in a single spin and 45 million kWh of electricity per year, enough to cover the annual electricity demand of 23,000 families while saving 15,000 tons of coal and 38,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Designed for better project economics

MySE 12MW offshore wind turbine is small and light, making transportation and installation easier and less expensive.

The economic case of 12MW wind turbine is strong. Consider a 1GW project comprised of 125 units of 8MW wind turbines, which are the most common offshore model on the market. Switching to MySE 12MW can save 1/3 of wind turbines, 30% of sea area, 24% of foundation cost, 27% of tower cost, and hence 25% of the entire project cost. Furthermore, as turbines are spaced further apart in larger capacity, more benefits can accrue from a 3-4% reduction in wakes and a 5% increase in generation. Overall, one can save 8.6% on costs per kW, 8.3% on LCOE, and improve 7.5% on project IRR.
