"Finding a balance between energy supply security and climate change"
"In view of the current global political situation, the topics at HANNOVER MESSE are more relevant than ever. At the heart of the matter is how we can ensure security of supply and growth while counteracting climate change," says Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG. "There is no getting around it: We have to think and find a balance between supply security and climate change – together. The technologies on show at HANNOVER MESSE will play a key role in this."
From 30 May to 2 June, 2,500 companies from around 60 countries will be showcasing their innovations for the factories and energy systems of the future at the Hanover Exhibition Center. Under the lead theme of "Industrial Transformation", they will demonstrate how connected production facilities can operate in a more efficient and resource-saving way, and how energy can be generated and transmitted sustainably.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Portugal's Prime Minister António Costa will jointly open HANNOVER MESSE. Robert Habeck, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, will be in Hannover for two days. On Sunday afternoon, he will join Siemens CEO Roland Busch and Yasmin Fahimi, Chairwoman of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) to discuss the transformation of industry in the face of the current geopolitical upheavals. On Tuesday, he will visit exhibitors' stands to gather first-hand information on the developments in industry.
Numerous other political dignitaries from Germany and the EU have confirmed their attendance. Köckler: "At the end of May, the global industrial community will be looking to Hannover. This year in particular, HANNOVER MESSE 2022 can send economic policy signals and build bridges."
From Siemens to Google: Exhibitors showcase technologies for digitization and sustainability
The 2,500 exhibiting companies include corporations like Siemens, Bosch, Schneider Electric, Schaeffler, Microsoft, SAP and Service Now, joined by numerous medium-sized industrial enterprises such as Beckhoff, Festo, Harting, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact and Lenze. Accompanying them will be major research institutes like Fraunhofer and KIT, plus around 150 startups, which find HANNOVER MESSE an ideal platform for networking with industry.
Green energies and hydrogen – driving energy supply security and climate protection
When it comes to CO2-neutral production and energy supply security in Europe, renewable energies and green hydrogen play a key role.
More than 250 exhibitors will be addressing the topic of hydrogen at HANNOVER MESSE. The Fraunhofer Institute will use a reference factory to demonstrate how the costs of producing hydrogen can be significantly reduced. GP Joule presents Germany's largest hydrogen mobility project. Iberdrola, the Spanish world market leader for wind energy, presents Europe's biggest hydrogen production facility.
Köckler: "A successful and thus rapid energy transition will only be possible with massive production of storable hydrogen from wind and solar power. The exhibitors at HANNOVER MESSE will be showing how this can be achieved."
Using digitization, automation and AI to help combat climate change
Europe is striving to become climate-neutral by mid-century. More and more companies have set themselves ambitious goals to this end and are in the process of completely converting their production and services. HANNOVER MESSE exhibitors supply the necessary technologies.
Bosch, for example, will be showing how intelligent energy management and connected robots make battery production more efficient and sustainable. SAP will demonstrate how software can be used to optimize waste prevention and emissions management. Siemens will show how e-car manufacturers can achieve their sustainability goals with digitization and robotics.
Extensive forum program
With more than 600 presentations and panel discussions, HANNOVER MESSE is a unique knowledge platform. On seven stages, companies will present their strategies and solutions towards meeting the challenges of the turning point at which the world has arrived – with the focus on the topics of digitization, climate change mitigation and green hydrogen. On 2 June, the WomenPower Career Congress will be taking place as part of HANNOVER MESSE. The event will feature 36 workshops dealing with topics such as leadership, career planning and new forms of work.
Partner Country Portugal
This year, Portugal is the Partner Country of the world’s foremost trade fair. More than 120 companies from the Partner Country Portugal have registered for HANNOVER MESSE 2022. Under the motto "Portugal Makes Sense", they will be showcasing their products and solutions for digital transformation, the energy transition and reliable supply chains.
