Germany - Hamburg Messe is international co-organiser of Wind Power Shanghai 2007

Hamburg Messe is the international co-organiser of the Wind Power Shanghai 2007 trade fair, to be held in China’s major trade and industry city from 1 to 3 November. The Agreement with the Chinese organiser SIEC (Shanghai International Exhibition Cooperation) has now been signed. Hamburg Messe is thus contributing its know-how as the organiser of the WindEnergy international trade fair in this high-growth Asian market. It will be the contact for all questions about the fair for wind industry companies in the major European markets.

Wind Power Shanghai has set itself the goal of becoming the premier wind industry event in China. The combination of trade fair and conference is supported exclusively by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA) and the Chinese Wind Energy Association (CWEA). The two-day conference will be held from 31 October to 1 November, at the Sheraton Grand Tai Ping Yang Hotel Shanghai. The trade fair of the same name will then open on 1 November, with manufacturers and equipment suppliers presenting their latest products at the nearby INTEX International Exhibition Centre in Shanghai.

The CREIA was already involved as one of the international partners at the WindEnergy International Trade Fair 2006 in Hamburg, which presented itself as a global platform for the wind industry in the world market, with nearly 50% of exhibitors coming from abroad. “Our role as the international co-organiser in Shanghai is simply the logical development of our global commitment,” explains Peter Bergleiter, Project Director for WindEnergy at Hamburg Messe. “It is based not only on the longstanding sister city arrangement between Hamburg and Shanghai, but also on the economic links which have grown up, and on fields of expertise which now give benefits to the whole of this industry.” China is of great interest to the wind industry, with ambitious goals – by 2010, China aims to have installed power of 4 gigawatts, and by 2020 as much as 30 GW, which would make China the most important market in the future.

The WindEnergy - International Trade Fair has been held at the international trade fair centre Hamburg once every two years since 2002. The trade fair reflects the whole value chain of the industry, and gives exhibitors and trade visitors the ideal forum for expansion of their activities in Germany and abroad.
