Major wind energy drive in Sweden

Rickard Klinkert is the person leading a new wind energy drive for Ramboll in Sweden. The Nordic countries, and particularly the Swedish market, are in focus for the global company in the coming years with an expectation to grow in the field. Ramboll has for many years been actively involved in wind energy in Sweden. However, with the great expansion under way, there is a need for a stronger presence.

"Global expertise combined with local presence was one of the reasons why I took this job. It is great to be able to provide a full service offering and to assist clients in all parts of the life cycle of a wind turbine. In addition to Swedish resources, we can use wind energy expertise and experience from all over the world. That is unique", says Rickard Klinkert, head of onshore wind at Ramboll in Sweden.

Aiming big

Rickard Klinkert belongs to a global team of almost 500 people and will lead the Swedish wind energy operations. In addition, he will be responsible for the business development within the area for all Nordic countries. He started at Ramboll on February 1 and has now started the recruiting and business development.

"It is the right decision for Ramboll to aim big, considering what is happening in the industry. In Sweden alone, wind energy is expected to double before 2022. In many ways, wind energy is already a renewable form of energy managing on its own, without subsidies, and thus sustainable both economically and environmentally. The aim of 100 per cent renewables by 2040 paves the way for a massive expansion of wind energy, and Ramboll will contribute to this", continues Rickard Klinkert.

Well-known profile

Rickard is a well-known profile in the industry. He was previously managing director at Kjeller Vindteknikk, a leading Swedish company within the wind industry. He is also a board member of Eurel, Convention of National Associations of Electrical Engineers of Europe, and president of the Swedish association for electrical engineers.

In Norway, we have recently strengthened the wind team with Inger Marie Malvik and in Finland, we have in recent years built up good business under the leadership of Veli-Pekka Alkula and his team. Based on this experience, it was important to have dedicated people on the ground also in Sweden. I am confident that Richard will take on the mission in the best way possible", says Klaus Jacob Jensen, global spearhead director of wind energy at Ramboll.
