News Release from Senvion GmbH
Wind Industry Profile of
Global Wind Summit 2018
The Global Wind Summit is the biggest and most important wind industry event worldwide. Taking place during the last week of September, the Wind Energy Hamburg expo and the Wind Europe conference combined in one big event saw more than 35,000 visitors from 100 countries come together to network and share ideas about the future of global renewable energy.
True to its promise – We make wind perform – Senvion presented many innovations which recieved excellent feedback from customers, suppliers, investors, media and other visitors to the stand. It was particularly encouraging to see growing interest and demand from new markets, especially the Americas and Asia.
“This years’ Global Wind Summit was another fantastic showcase of Senvion’s innovative products and solutions. The entire team did a great job and we had an outstanding presence which was recognised by everybody who visited our stand,” said David Hardy, Executive Director and CSO. Manav Sharma, Interim CEO and CFO then added “I want to personally thank all my Senvion colleagues who planned and participated in the event. Looking forward, we will stay focused on our international expansion strategy and capitalise on the conversations we had during the week. We make wind perform!”
The Global Wind Summit once again served as a catalyst for promoting wind power as a cost-efficient and sustainable energy source. The event showed that wind energy is a dynamic and growing industry with excellent international opportunities.
For Senvion, there were two central themes:
- The digitalization of the wind energy sector
- The modularization and standardization of Senvion’s products
As the energy sector is transforming, digitalization is the key to more efficiency in wind turbine management. Accordingly, digital innovation was one of Senvion’s key themes for this year’s event. Digital technologies are set to make energy systems around the world more connected, intelligent, efficient, reliable and sustainable. As a leading player in this field, Senvion introduced new products to improve the Annual Energy Production (AEP) of turbines. Over the next few years, Senvion will work on leveraging data compiled by its huge turbine fleet and focus on predictive maintenance and other smart solutions to improve energy generation.
The second focus point at this year’s event was the modularization and customization of turbines. For Senvion, this has long been a part of its strategy. Following its tried and tested evolutionary approach, all new onshore and offshore platforms are based on existing models with a clear development path across product generations. For customers, this means lower risks as well as faster certification and time to market. Recent product introductions, such as the 4.XM and 2.3M130 modular turbine platforms, have already received huge orders, proving the success of our modularization philosophy.
