LiftWerx is proud to announce the RotorHook™
Launching in Q2 2019, the RotorHook™ is the largest up-tower lifting device ever to be developed in the wind energy O&M industry. This innovative new device, which eliminates the requirement to utilize a large crane for major corrective repairs, can be easily mobilized to site in only three standard ISO containers. The RotorHook™ will drive down O&M costs, improve turbine uptime, increase safety, and reduce the reliance on larger, more expensive traditional cranes.
According to Ted Pruss, Director North America Operations, Siemens Gamesa Renewables Inc., “We are excited to partner with LiftWerx because their technology will set a new standard for main bearing and generator exchanges. This is a big step forward for the industry where continuous innovation and lowering the cost of energy continue to be market drivers.”
According to Paul van der Weg, Head of Advanced Operations Support, North America, Siemens Gamesa Renewables Limited, “I am excited to enter into this collaboration with an industry recognized leader-in-innovation like Liftwerx. Investing in creative, customer-focused solutions like the RotorHook™ is a key part of our business strategy. I am confident that the combination of LiftWerx’s experience in providing both conventional and innovative solutions to the wind industry, and Siemens Gamesa’s operational and turbine specific expertise, will result in a solution that will set a new benchmark for the industry.”
Leading the way forward in the renewable energy sector, Siemens Gamesa provides cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable wind power. Their scale, global reach, and proven track record ensures that Siemens Gamesa will play a central role in shaping the energy landscape of the future. According to Glen Aitken, President of LiftWerx, “We chose to partner with Siemens Gamesa because of their continuously widening global presence and proven track record. Their company culture encourages new innovative ways to drive down costs and provide value to customers. Operationally, this device will perform lifts from within the nacelle which were previously unachievable, and we are looking forward to progressing with the project and executing the first lifts in Colorado, USA.”
LiftWerx specializes in alternative up-tower lifting solutions for wind turbine corrective repairs. Their state-of-the-art technology is safe, reliable, and less costly as compared to using large conventional cranes. In addition to lowering O&M costs, LiftWerx’s up-tower lifting technology reduces ground preparation, and reduces downtime by allowing safe operation of major components in higher wind speeds.
The design and production of the RotorHook™ will be performed by the Kenz-Figee Group, in close co-operation with Eager. One for specialized engineering. LiftWerx, Eager. One, and Kenz-Figee are subsidiaries of the Meemaken Group.
