Beatrice: First sail-away
Image: Bladt IndustriesThe whole process went according to the plan and on the 22nd of August at 14.45, the first two jackets left the site and at 19.00 another two jacket foundations followed. Five days after Seaway Heavy Lifting announced that the first two Beatrice jackets were successfully installed, and that the installation went smooth.
Bladt Industries will in total provide 30 four-legged jacket foundations for the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm.
The jacket foundations will have a height of up to approximately 70 meters with weights of up to approximately 940 tons – making them significantly larger than previous jacket structures fabricated at Lindoe.
The Beatrice wind farm will comprise 84 Siemens turbines with a total capacity of 588MW. The wind farm will be located in the Outer Moray Firth, off the north coast of Scotland, and will produce enough energy for approximately 470,000 homes.

The £2.6bn Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) is owned by SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) (35%) and Red Rock Power Limited (25%) and reached Financial Close on 23 May 2016. The project will be one of the largest private investments ever made in Scottish infrastructure.
