Iberdrola Renewables kicks off #MyResolve social media campaign

“My resolve in 2015 is to bring more wind energy to the great state of Ohio”

This guest blog is by Art Sasse, Director of Communications & Brand for Iberdrola Renewables. Iberdrola Renewables generates power from more than 40 renewable energy projects for its utility customers in the United States and is a leader in America’s transition to a renewable energy future.

What’s your New Year’s resolution? For hundreds of employees at Iberdrola Renewables in the United States, it’s making a positive impact on the environment. To capture this passion, Iberdrola Renewables launched the #MyResolve social media campaign. This campaign encourages social followers to reflect on their daily lives and share how they can make small changes each day to make a difference, such as reducing the negative impacts of climate change.

#MyResolve launched on December 1 and will run through early January, primetime for New Year’s resolutions. The campaign features multiple short videos starring Iberdrola Renewables employees. They each share their New Year’s resolutions to reduce their environmental impact. Each video will be shared on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, and will use the hashtag #MyResolve to direct the online conversation.                                                                   

Here is a preview of some of the resolutions in the campaign:

  • Dan Litchfield, from Ohio, says: “My resolve in 2015 is to bring more wind energy to the great state of Ohio.”
  • Sophy Chan, also from Oregon, said her resolve is to “…go completely paperless for all of my billing needs, and to remember to bring my reusable bags whenever I go grocery shopping.”

There are 33 employee videos in all, and the Iberdrola Renewables team expects to see more submissions from fans as the season progresses. For fans, campaigns like this are fun and also emphasize important topics like climate change. For Iberdrola Renewables, it’s an opportunity to discuss the beneficial relationship between renewable energy and the environment. It also emphasizes how each individual decision adds up to positive change.
