BOW Terminal Responsible for Storage & Load Transfers Gemini Offshore Wind Farm Project

A 600MW fully consented offshore wind farm, to be located 55 kilometers north of the island of Schiermonnikoog in the Dutch North Sea. BOW Terminal is responsible for storage and load transfers of 75 pile foundations. The BOW Terminal in Vlissingen is excellently located at the North Sea.

“We are very proud to work on the largest Dutch offshore project. We have a permanent availability of heavy lift capacity upto 1,500 T (Gottwald MK1500 + Liebherr LR1600), therefore we are in the position to lift 75 pile foundations of 850 T each, for this project,” said Arjen Pattenier, General manager of BOW Terminal. “The Gemini Project is our 25th energy-related project since our start in October 2010 and our first project for the Dutch Offshore wind market. Arjen Pattenier continues, “Our services can be devided into: heavy lifting and site transportation, load outs by multiple SPMT/skidding including ballast operations, storage, mobilization/demobilization/outfitting of barges/installation vessels, seafasting/pre-rigging/assembly of steel structures, repair works/touch up painting/coating, sea – and river transports, custom formalities, engineering and project management. The Gemini Project is operated from our location in Vlissingen, but our second location in IJmuiden also has a strategic position at the North Sea.”

PROJECT GEMINI

Project Gemini is the 600MW fully consented offshore wind farm, to be located 55 kilometers north of the island of Schiermonnikoog in the Dutch North Sea. In 2009 the Dutch authorities (“Rijkswaterstaat”) granted three (3) Wbr permits for future offshore wind farms. Project Gemini is located in an area with excellent wind conditions - up to 10m/s - and water depths between 28 and 36m. The total 600MW of installed capacity will produce electricity for over 785,000 households /1,540,000 habitants per annum which is nearly equivalent to the number of people living in the 3 northern provinces of The Netherlands and equals a reduction in emissions of 1,250,000 Tons of CO2. The Wind Turbine Generators (WTG’s) will be installed on monopile foundations and connected to two offshore transformer platforms from which two sets of 100km offshore cable will export the power to the onshore public grid owned by TenneT.

BOW TERMINAL
