GeoSea: Foundations done at Borkum Riffgrund 1

GeoSea has just finalized the installation of 77 foundations on the DONG Energy Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm.

The installation works, including transport from the fabrication yard to the marshalling harbor, have proceeded in record times and finished ahead of schedule.

The 77 units consisted of monopiles, weighing between 495 tonnes and 684 tonnes and measuring a diameter of 5.9 metres and a length of up to 66m, and transition pieces of weighing around 330 tonnes.

The installation vessel Pacific Orca, supplied by DONG Energy, is currently sailing to Flushing where GeoSea will start the mobilization works for the Suction Bucket Jacket, a new type of foundation also to be installed on the BKR1 field.

GeoSea’s sister company Tideway will continue with the scour protection installation works that are due to be finished soon.
