This week: Hailo Professional offers the highest safety standards for the global wind power sector

For many years now, Hailo – Europe’s largest climbing equip-ment manufacturer – has been successfully collaborating with the wind power systems makers across the globe. Hailo’s know-how in der climbing technology and the quality of its products always pro

Haiger, 08.02.2012. When servicing and maintaining wind power systems – and hence also when developing and manufacturing new climbing protection systems – the first priority must always be the safety of the service staff. And this was also the case for the most re-cent new development from Hailo: the disconnectable, track-based “Hailo PARTNER” fall arrester.

While ascending and descending, the service staff is protected from falling by personal fall protection equipment (PSA) attached to a ladder. The fall arrester is the most important component of this safety package. For this reason, it is necessary to constantly check its technical status and its use and to modify these wherever required with the aim of increasing the safety and simple handling for employees. Hailo has succeeded in achieving this in its new development, among other things as a result of the disconnecting feature of the Hailo PARTNER. This enables users to leave – if required – the ladder at any section of the ladder. He or she now no longer has to climb to the next-closed disconnection point. The Hailo PARTNER is compact and redefines the cushioning integrated into the fall arrester. The new development is certified both in accordance with EN 353-1 and the “Recommendation for Use”, Vertical Group 11, CNB/P/11.073 and conforms to Directive 89/686/EEC.

But existing Hailo products are also constantly adapted to the very latest safety requirements. The company most recently reacted to a considerable tightening of European safety standards by successfully modifying the fall arrester for the track-based H50 climbing protection system.
However, safety is not just the primary focus during product development: in 2010, the company built an in-house training tower, hence creating the ideal conditions for technical safety seminars and exercises. With this training facility, Hailo rounds off its portfolio of competent climbing technology and equipment.
