Wind Industry Profile of

Denmark - Vestas sees out 2011 with orders from seven countries

Vestas has received two wind power orders from EDF Energies Nouvelles for delivery of 19 V90-2.0 MW wind turbines for the Gargano wind farm in Apulia (Italy), and for 12 V90-2.0 MW for the Eckolstädt wind farm

Vestas, the world leader in wind energy, has received two orders from key account EDF Energies Nouvelles for delivery of 19 V90-2.0 MW wind turbines for the Gargano wind farm in Apulia, Italy, and for 12 V90-2.0 MW turbines for the Eckolstädt wind farm, in Thüringen, Germany, for a total capacity of 62 MW.

Both orders have been placed by EDF Energies Nouvelles, a leader in renewable energy, as part of the binding share of wallet agreement signed in June 2011 with Vestas. Through the agreement for the years 2012-2014, EDF Energies Nouvelles and its US subsidiary, committed to purchase Vestas wind turbines for a minimum of 50 per cent of all its future onshore wind installations in Europe and for a minimum of 30 per cent in the United States.

Every single day, Vestas wind turbines deliver clean energy that supports the global fight against climate change. Wind power from Vestas’ more than 44,500 wind turbines currently reduces carbon emissions by approximately 50 million tons of CO2 every year, while at the same time building energy security and independence. Today, Vestas has installed turbines in 66 countries, and for our own operations alone we provide jobs for over 20,000 passionate people at our service and project sites, research facilities, factories and offices all over the world.

About Vestas:
With the industry's largest global market share and most advanced technologies, Vestas is the world's leading supplier of wind energy solutions. Vestas' core business is the development, manufacture, sales, marketing and maintenance of wind turbines that use the power of the wind to generate electricity.

Vestas is at the forefront of wind energy innovation and technology. We have been harnessing the power of the wind for more than 30 years. In 2008, we opened the largest R&D centre in the wind energy industry, which now employs over 800 engineers and technicians. Our focus on research and innovation has led to us developing turbines that are now 100 times more efficient than they were 25 years ago. As a result, the more than 43,000 Vestas turbines around the world produce enough energy to supply millions of households.

We have global expertise along the entire value chain, from product development and technology, to measuring wind and placing wind turbines in the best possible location, project management, grid integration, performance monitoring and analysis.

Vestas employs more than 20,000 people worldwide and has installed wind turbines in 66 countries on six continents. The head office of Vestas Central Europe is located in Husum and is responsible for the sales and marketing of Vestas wind power systems in Germany, Benelux. Austria, Russia, Eastern Europe and Southern and Eastern Africa.
