USA - GE to Supply Wind Turbines to Two Wind Farm Plants in Illinois
GE has declared that it will be supplying 300 MW worth wind turbines and other operations and maintenance services for the Iroquois and Ford Counties, Illinois, located Pioneer Trail Wind Farm and Iroquois County, Illinois, located Settlers Trail Wind Farm. Both the wind power projects are developed by E.ON Climate & Renewables, NA (ECRNA), a global renewable energy projects developer.
The company will supply a total of 188 GE 1.6 wind turbines incorporating the most current technology of the company for the two wind farms. An existing operation and maintenance service accord between ECRNA and GE will cover the newly supplied wind turbine units, to ensure wind turbine availability and power production at all the locations in the United States where ECRNA has installed GE wind turbines.
GE will supply 94 wind turbines each to both the wind farms that are spread over thousands of acres of countryside farmland located in northeast Illinois. The presently supplied GE 1.6 MW wind turbines developed utilizing the years of established experience of the company,s wind turbine technology is a workhorse and over 16,000 units have been erected all over the world. Each of the wind turbines installed at the two farms will feature 80 m tower and 82.5 m diameter rotors. At the peak of power generation, the power produced from the two wind farms will meet the electricity requirements of around 115,000 households in the USA.
The high-voltage power transmission lines available close to both the wind farm sites will allow easy and cost-effective transfer of generated wind power to Chicago and other populated places.
