Onshore, Offshore & Co. - Strategies for 100% renewable energy provision in international discourse

Invitation to BalticFuture – the international conference and trade fair for renewable energy and the maritime industry - in Rostock

It is not only in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that the growing power of renewable energy is taking an ever increasing share of the regional economy. Worldwide it is counted as one of the largest growth markets. The sector is not necessarily a “fast sell” however. Considerable investment in innovative developments and technologies is key to enabling the long-term successful continuation of this rising trend for renewable energy. What do strategies for 100% renewable energy provision look like? What prospects arise from this for industry? These questions are the focus of the BalticFuture International Conference and Trade Fair, which is taking place from Wednesday 4th May 2011 to Thursday 5th May 2011 in the Rostock HanseMesse.

At the two-day conference around 700 national and international sector experts from the economy, science and politics will analyse the increasing significance of renewable energy as an economic factor and suggest innovative approaches. BalticFuture has as its patron Jürgen Seidel, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Minister for the Economy, Work and Tourism, and it will be opened by Mecklenburg-Vorpommern First Minister Erwin Sellering. The partner region of BalticFuture in 2011 is South-West Finland.

The programme for the two-day conference and trade fair illustrates the broad spectrum of the “renewable energy” theme and includes a variety of subject-specific symposia and discussion fora including the “Future Conference for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Energy Provision”, the “Wind Energy Day” and the Offshore HANSA-Forum on the subject of “Regenerative Energy Generation as a New Challenge for Navigation and Shipbuilding”.

The specialist programme is conducted by senior consultants and experts from the economy and science. With an accompanying exhibition of sector-leading companies and institutions, BalticFuture furthermore offers a communication platform to manufacturers, suppliers, logistics companies and engineering firms from all areas of renewable energy, as well as the opportunity to exchange opinions in the pleasant atmosphere of the Rostock HanseMesse. Besides offshore wind energy, further focus areas are shipbuilding, navigation, maritime suppliers and maritime technology.

Further information and a continually updated programme can be found at www.balticfuture.com.

Representatives from the media are very welcome to attend BalticFuture and talk to the experts.
