Turkey - Wind energy Gamesa expands its presence in Turkey

The wind power contract includes the installation of 10 Gamesa model G90-2.0 MW wind turbines, plus operation and maintenance services for a period of 16 years of the wind farm

Gamesa, one of the world’s leading companies in the design, manufacture and maintenance of wind turbines and a top wind farm developer, has signed an agreement with Kiroba Elektrik Uretim to supply 20 MW of turbine capacity for the Madranbaba wind farm in the Turkish province of Aydin.

The deal calls for the company to deliver 10 Gamesa wind turbines, model G9X-2.0 MW, carry out wind turbine transport, installation and assembly and provide operation and maintenance services for a period of 16 years. The new wind farm is scheduled to begin operating sometime between late 2011 and early 2012.

Gamesa opens its first Turkish marketing office in Istanbul:
This new wind energy contract, the second deal Gamesa landed in Turkey, strengthens the company’s presence in that strategic market. Gamesa aims to further cement its presence in Turkey, and, to this end, is channelling new resources into the country by opening its first Turkish marketing office in Istanbul.

Gamesa announced in October that it would disembark in Turkey, after it signed an agreement to install 30 MW of turbine capacity for an ABK Enerji Elektrik Uretim wind energy project in the city of Soke. That contract encompasses the transport, installation and assembly of 15 Gamesa G90-2.0 MW turbines, along with operation and maintenance services for a period of 16 years.

Clean energy for 35,000 Turkish households:
From an environmental standpoint, the wind turbines Gamesa is slated to supply and install in Madranbaba will help to create a healthy and clean environment by preventing the emission of contaminants into the atmosphere. Specifically, the equivalent annual output of the 20 MW of installed capacity represents more than 4.3 tonnes of oil per year and avoids atmospheric emissions of approximately 30,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The wind farm is expected to generate approximately 70 GWh and will provide clean electricity to 35,000 Turkish households.
