Bosnia and Herzegovina - Country's first wind farm in Mesihovina
The construction of Bosnia’s first wind farm, Mesihovina, started this week, with the first kilowatts from its 22 wind turbines expected to be produced in 2013.
The wind energy project is worth 78 million euro, including 72 million from a credit from Germany’s KfW. The wind farm will have an installed capacity of between 44 and 66 megawatts.
The wind power project is implemented by local power utility Elektroprivreda HZ-HB.
Bosnia and Herzegovina calls tender for 16 wind farm locations in Podvelezje, Mostar
This area is considered by experts to be the most desirable for wind energy and this area can generate approximately 60 MW from wind turbines.
The Ministry of Economy of Hercegovina-Neretva Canton called a public invitation for submission of bids for the concession awarding related to using the building land on the plateau of Podvelezje, Mostar, for constructing and using the wind power plants.
Wind energy is a source of power that has gained a lot of attention in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Experts say a preliminary study shows that BiH has a potential to create up to 600 MW of wind power.
