China - Wind power installed capacity to hit 200 GW by 2020
China's wind energy installed capacity is expected to hit 40 GW by the end of 2010, and further up to 200 GW by 2020, said Li Junfeng, deputy director with Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission.
Li noted that the global wind power installed capacity is expected to hit 400 -500 GW by 2020, close to the installed capacity of nuclear power generation.
And China's wind farm installed capacity would be definitely above 150 GW by then, twice as much as the installed capacity of nuclear power generation.
He also said that the cost of photovoltaic power generation would drop to 1.5-2 yuan/kilowatt hours, which will enable China to develop PV power generation at larger scale.
By the end of 2010, China's PV installed capacity is expected to exceed 1 GW, and further up to 20-50 GW by 2020.
