Wind Industry Profile of

Europe's premier wind energy event goes to Poland

Journalists are invited to the annual European Wind Energy Conference & Exhibition (EWEC 2010), Warsaw, 20-23 April.

Organised by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), EWEC 2010 - Europe's largest combined wind energy conference and exhibition - brings together business leaders, policy makers and stakeholders from all over Europe to debate key developments in the wind industry.

The issue set to spark lively debate at EWEC is: can wind power generate half of Europe's electricity by 2050? Climate policies - including financial and regulatory incentives, moving offshore wind to the industrial stage, the development of global markets for wind energy, rotor aerodynamics, wind resource assessment, are among the issues on the agenda at the EWEC 2010 conference.

Meanwhile the exhibition is sold out, with over 200 exhibitors paid up to fill the 5000m2 of exhibition space.

Watch out for the launch of EWEA's exciting 2010 campaign, the publication of a report on how wind reduces the price of electricity, and the launch of a new EWEA blog.

"The place and the time to catch up with political, financial, technical and other developments is EWEC 2010. Bringing EWEC to Poland was an obvious choice. It is the emerging market with the strongest market growth and the best wind resource,” said EWEA Chief Executive, Christian Kjaer.

"With a raft of important initiatives that will shape the long term future of the industry - from ENTSO-E's 10 year development plan, to the European Commission's North Sea Grid Blueprint and the continued global climate negotiations - 2010 is another vital year for wind energy," said Kjaer.

A press conference will take place on the opening day, at 12:30.
Invited speakers (tbc) include:

Xabier Viteri, CEO, Iberdrola Renewables and EWEC 2010 Conference chair
Paul Magnette, Minister of Climate and Energy, Belgium
Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Climate Change, United Kingdom
Waldemar Pawlak, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Economy, Poland
Miguel Sebastián Gascón, Minister for Industry, Tourism and Trade, Spain
Traicho Traikov, Minister for Economy & Energy, Bulgaria
Adriean Videanu, Minister of Economy, Romania
Taner Yildiz, Minister for Energy & Natural Resources, Turkey

All journalists will have free access to EWEC 2010. A fully equipped press room will be available. A broadcast-standard video highlighting the main activities at EWEC will be made available too.
