Chile - Local Renewable Energy Center founded
The Renewable Energy Center (CER) has been created by the National Energy Commission (CNE) and the Corporation for Production Development (CORFO). It represents the efforts of the Government of Chile for the development of renewable energy and will function as a central core of information and support to promote investment and technology transfer.
The CER - staffed by a highly qualified technical team and led by the civil engineer Javier Garcia Monge, master in engineering management environment of the Ecole des Mines de Paris-, will seek to centralize information on non-conventional renewable energy (NCRE) for public and private interests.
The energy minister remarked the privileged conditions of the country and the broad consensus to advance on the development of renewable energy and the generation of a safe, competitive, sustainable and equitable energy matrix.
For his part, the Vice President of CORFO highlighted the historic opportunity that renewable energy development represents for his country, and the settlement of an industry of associated products and services, which have a source of dynamism for its productive system, incorporating new generation technologies and skilled manpower.
