Australia - Vestas receives order for 111 MW of wind power

The order comprises supply, installation, commissioning as well as a 10-year service agreement

Vestas has received an order for 37 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine for a wind farm project in South Australia. The order comprises supply, installation, commissioning as well as a 10-year service agreement. The order also includes a VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution.

The order for the Waterloo Wind Farm project has been placed by Roaring 40s Renewable Energy Pty Ltd – a partnership between energy giants China Light & Power (CLP) Group and Hydro Tasmania – who has been a long-term Vestas customer through three existing wind farm projects in Australia.
“We are delighted to have been chosen as the preferred wind energy solution partner for Roaring 40’s in the development of the Waterloo Wind Farm and helping them realise their vision to be the leading renewable energy developer in Australia,” says Sean Sutton, President of Vestas Asia Pacific.

“This order is further confirmation of the strong relationship between Roaring 40s and Vestas, where cooperation to develop the right operational philosophy for the site has proven invaluable,” adds Jørn Hammer, Senior Vice President, Vestas Asia Pacific.

“With our focus on delivering value, including business case certainty for our customer, Roaring 40s has been able to successfully convince leading financial institutions about the long-term viability of the project.”

“We have built a strong relationship with Vestas over the years and this is the fourth project we have conducted in Australia with their support,” says Peter Berry, Managing Director of Roaring 40s. “Vestas’ track record of performance, together with their cooperation throughout the financial close process have been key factors behind securing this deal.” Shipment of the turbines is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2009, with site delivery and installation to take place in 2010
