Chile - Several provinces will benefit from wind projects
Twelve wind project initiatives are planned be installed within the territory of the provinces of El Loa, Tocopilla and Antofagasta. These projects have recently been approved by the Regional Concession Committee (RAC).
The authorities who have been involved in the decisions of these initiatives are the regional governor, the SEREMI (Regional Ministerial Secretary) of National Heritage, the SEREMI of Housing and Urban Development Ministry, and representatives from CORFO and CONAMA, among others, who have expressed optimism in continuing operations leading to diversify the country's energy matrix.
In addition, they stressed that the construction of the wind farms proposed by these initiatives will lead to a more dynamic production structure for the regional economy, allowing the generation and expansion of jobs, as well as a higher energy volume with lower marginal costs.
The supply of the land will be made in the form of land-use granting, to carry out relevant studies and measurements that will establish the feasibility of the location of wind farms. To this end, the beneficiaries are mainly Pacific Construction, Consulting and Projects Enerthi SA, Andean Mining & Energy SA and Gas Atacama.
