China - Vestas develops wind turbine for Chinese market
Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has developed its first market-specific turbine to address the needs and demands of the company's Chinese customers and partners.
Vestas says that the V60-850kW represents the next generation of its KW technology - built for optimized production and performance and featuring new innovations developed to make the turbine suitable for Chinese wind and weather conditions.
The new features of the V60-850kW include innovations in blade design and temperature control systems. The V60-850kW was designed by Vestas's global research and development team to be most effective in low and medium winds, China's biggest available wind classes, representing close to 75% of as yet unutilized onshore wind resources in China.
The V60-850kW unit is almost entirely sourced in China; with over 90% of the machine's components locally-made, as a result of the development of partnerships with Vestas's new and existing suppliers. The turbine will be built in Vestas's new factory in Hohhot, Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region.
