Wind Industry Profile of

REpower Systems AG: 6M is the world's most powerful wind energy turbine

Rated power increased to 6,150 kW
Company shows its technology at this year's Hanover Trade Fair

Hamburg, 17 April 2009. In addition to the REpower 5M currently in series production, the third- largest German wind turbine manufacturer now has the most powerful wind turbine in the world in its portfolio with the further development of the model series to the REpower 6M: At the Hanover Trade Fair, REpower Systems AG (WKN 617 703) is demonstrating its offshore turbine REpower 6M with a new guaranteed rated electrical power of 6,150 kilowatts (kW). In the framework of the leading inter- national trade fair "Wind", the company shows its technology at the world's most important industry exhibition.
"The load validation on our three test systems recently erected on the German-Danish border shows that the 6M is designed for operation with a continuous power output of 6,150 kW. These values have now been verified externally, so that the REpower 6M, with its increase in rated power of 150 kW,is currently the most powerful turbine in the world", explained REpower CTO Matthias Schubert. The
turbine possesses a rotor diameter of 126 metres with a hub height of 80-95 metres in offshore in- stallations and 100-117 metres in onshore installations. For installations on the open seas, it can supply power for up to 5,400 households. Furthermore, the dimensions correspond exactly to those of the REpower 5M, so the REpower 6M can later be used in all the projects planned for this turbine type. In the coming years, the company initially plans to erect several test systems on land within the framework of preproduction. Later, the REpower 6M, just as the 5M, will be produced in the Off- shore and Logistics Centre in Bremerhaven, and from there, directly shipped to the installation locations on the high seas.
REpower Systems AG will be presenting its products from 20 to 24 April at the Hannover Messe at Bo- oth F11 in Hall 27. Among other things, a reproduction of a nacelle of the REpower 3.XM in its ori- ginal size will be presented at the 240 m2 large exhibition booth. The onshore turbine first erec- ted at the end of 2008 is characterised as well by REpower quality features such as high reliabil- ity and ease of service.
