Japan - Japan-Power buys controlling stake in in 3 wind farms
Japan's Electric Power Development Co. announced Monday that it has acquired two wind power companies from Marubeni Corp. and a large stake in a third.
The electricity wholesaler, known as J-Power, purchased a 90 per cent interest in Yuya Wind Power Corp., 80 per cent of Minami-Kyushu Wind Power Corp., and 49 per cent of Sarakitomanai Wind Power Corp. The combined output capacity for the three comes to about 45,000kw.
J-Power now has stakes in 12 domestic wind farms with a total capacity of 256,000kw, trailing only Eurus Energy Holdings Corp. in Japan.
